Let’s get back to business

-

The Lanarkshire Business Awards are back after two years due to the effects of Covid-19.

Applications closed last week with a huge rise in submissions from previous years, showing how keen Lanarkshire companies are to get back to business and celebrate their successes.

Now, judges will get to work shortlisting finalists for each category, which will be announced in June.

The awards dinner will take place on September 2 at Motherwell Concert Hall and will be hosted by broadcaster and actor Grant Stott.

Around 400 guests will mark the achievements and successes of businesses, large and small, from across the Lanarkshire area.

Albert Barlett potatoes, the UK’s lead supplier of potatoes, will be the sponsor of this year’s awards.

The family-owned company was founded in 1948 and has its headquarters in Airdrie.

Michael Jarvis, head of marketing at the firm, told the News:“We have been proudly based in Lanarkshire since our founder started the business in his garden shed in

Coatbridge 74 years ago.

“We are delighted to support these awards, which mark the entrepreneurial skills, hard work and determination of our home region.”

Pamela Humphries, head of planning and regeneration at North Lanarkshire Council, said:“It’s fantastic to see such a positive response to this year’s awards.

“The high level of submissions clearly demonstrates the resilience and confidence felt by local businesses as they recover from the impact of the pandemic and move forward.

“We’re all delighted to be part of this year’s, in person, Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards event and welcome the opportunity to recognise the achievements of businesses from across the area.”

The Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards are hosted jointly by North and South Lanarkshire Councils and are one of the longest-running business awards, celebrating the success and diversity of the Lanarkshire business community
