Group all set for their second production

- SHIRLEY BARTYNEK

East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club is back with their second production of 2022 Thick As A Brick.

A change from the usual format, this production features song and dance routines to add a bit extra to the drama.

From the original book and lyrics by John Godber and music by John Pattison, Thick As A Brick concerns relief drama teacher Mary who faces an uphill struggle when she tries to interest Stacey, Kelly and Maggie in dance.

She’s not helped by the science-obsessed headmaster, nor by the girl’s patent lack of commitment, or the lack of funds and resources, but she ploughs on.

Will a trip to London to take part in a dance competition be a turning point? You can find out if you come along to the group’s performances in June at the Village Theatre in East Kilbride.

A spokesman for EK Rep told the News: “The three main characters of Stacey, Kelly and Maggie are played by Natalie Fleming, Claire Everett and Jennifer McLeish respectively, with other roles taken by Adam Culyer, Andy Williams, his first role with the club since 2015, and Lynne McMahon.

“Produced by Dave Bennet, the performances will take place on Wednesday, June 8, through to Friday, June 10, and will start at 7.30pm with curtain up for the show on Saturday, June 11 at 3pm.”

Tickets for all the performances are available online.

The group previously enjoyed success with their pre-lockdown play, Ladies’ Day.

Two years later than planned, East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club raised the curtain finally in March with a hilarious performance and can now look forward to entertaining once again with their latest hit.
