EAST KILBRIDE THISTLE ........................ 2 GIRVAN ...................................................... 2

EK Thistle boss Aaron Connolly hailed his side’s resilience as they came from behind yet again this season to take something from a game in the West of Scotland Third Division.

The Jags trailed 2-0 at the break at home to Girvan but strikes from Sam Kent and Adam Edgar saw them salvage a point to leave them 12th in the 19-team league.

It’s a feat the Jags have managed a number of times this season and Connolly said:“There is definitely a resilience around the group. I think in the earlier part of the season we would have lost that game, but there is a desire to keep playing football and they’ve done it a few times now.

“We would like to stop conceding goals that give us mountains to climb, but I can’t question the effort and commitment from the players.

“We are asking the boys to play a brand of football that is difficult on some of these pitches against stronger, more physical teams, but they stick to it and, hopefully, we are starting to see the rewards for that.

“It was a decent game of football, with two really contrasting styles. I thought we were very unfortunate to be 2-0 down at half-time, but we continued to get the ball down and play on a difficult surface against a strong, physical team.

“We eventually got our just rewards by getting the two goals and getting a point. We might have nicked the win in the second half but, overall, we are pleased to take a point.”

A trip to sixth-place Lesmahagow awaits this Saturday and the Jags are going into the unknown, having yet to face the‘Gow this season.

Connolly added:“We’ve struggled against the teams in the top half but it’s a test we won’t shirk away from and we’ll be looking to get something from this game.

“We play them twice in the next few weeks. I haven’t had the chance to see them this season either so we don’t know much about them, but I will get as much information as I can on them.”
