Double delight for hockey team
East Kilbride Ladies Hockey Club are celebrating an indoor and outdoor double after both of their sides won league titles this season.
The outdoor team have just clinched West District Division 2 on goal difference from Stewarton Garnock, with the team now promoted to West District Divison 1 next season.
EK were also crowned West District Indoor league champions earlier in the year.
As well as that success, one of the highlights of EK’s season fell on Mother’s Day in March when EK faced Glasgow High Kelvinside IIIs in the District Plate, with no fewer than four mother/daughter combinations on the pitch.

The game was end-to-end, with GHK sneaking the win with a late goal to deny the team a treble.
After lifting the outdoor title, courtesy of being nine goals better off than their rivals, club captain Sonya Andrews said:“The team have had to work hard all season, and Stewarton Garnock ran us very close but we were delighted to clinch the league title.
“After winning the indoor league this season too it really was the cherry on top.”
Following this season’s success, the club are looking for players to boost their cause next term.
