Delight as Diack sinks AC Mill Inn

-

Striker Jonny Diack bagged his fourth EKRR hat-trick of the season to help the side cruise into the fourth round of the Scottish Amateur Cup with a 4-0 win over AC Mill Inn Academy.

The expectation was for this to be a tough tie, as the team from Aberdeen had scored 54 goals in a previous match, albeit it was against eight men.

But it was The Rolly who brought their shooting boots on the day in an impressive victory.

The Rolly went a goal up in 12 minutes after Stevie Coupland was brought down in the AC Mill Inn box and Diack stepped up to score the resulting penalty.

They thought they had doubled their lead three minutes later when

Coupland found the net but his effort was deemed to be offside.

However, it didn’t take long for the next Rolly goal, which came in 24 minutes.

A fantastic through ball from Declan Percy, making his Rolly debut, was picked up by Diack and he made no mistake from close range for 2-0.

Just before half time, a mix-up in the AC Mill Inn penalty box resulted in one of their defenders heading the ball into his own net, giving The Rolly a 3-0 interval lead.

After the restart, they put the game to bed after some great play by Coupland on the left side took him into the penalty box. He then cut the ball back Diack to slot home and complete his hat-trick.

AC Mill Inn created a few chances late in the game but Nick Martin in the Rolly goal pulled off some great saves to keep the score at 4-0.

Rolly manager Andy Cook said:“I’m happy with the result, but we were a bit ragged here and there, which is most likely down to the fact we hadn’t played for a few weeks and had been unable able to train due to the bad weather.

“I was pleased to see Declan Percy playing so well on his debut and for our man of the match, Craig Smith, to get a full 90 minutes under his belt.”

The Rolly’s next game is away to East End Villa in the 4th round of the West of Scotland Cup this Saturday.
