Carpet chief’s big Christmas bonus for locals

- ANDREA LAMBROU

An East Kilbride business owner is giving away carpets to locals living on the breadline and says no one deserves to open Christmas presents on floorboards.

Big hearted Sean Przesor took to Tik Tok to announce that his company would be giving away over 80 sections of carpet to the less fortunate this festive season.

The owner says the rolls, which have been left over from work throughout the year, have flown off the shelves with people leaving his warehouse in East Kilbride in tears.

The managing director of Step By Step Flooring has been blown away with the response from the local community.

He said: “A lot of people don’t have anything.

“We’ve got a lot of roll ends.

“They are brand new so we wanted to give them away to people and charities that needed it.

“This is the first time we’ve done it; we’ve only been in business for two years.

“We see a lot of people living on floor boards and it’s heartbreaking.

“People are leaving with a smile on their face or crying because they couldn’t afford to get it done.

“It’s nice to give back to the community.

“We take flooring for granted but I’ve been amazed by the amount of people coming in who don’t have any.

“Unfortunately, we are coming to the end now with how much we can help.

“We’ve almost run out of carpet to give away.”

Sean hopes next year to be able to give away more.

However, he says he can only do that if people continue to use the business throughout the year.

He said: “For this to carry on we need people to use the business.

“The people that buy from us are the ones giving back to those that have nothing.

“That’s how it works and we certainly hope it’s something we can continue doing in years to come.”
