Share and share alike Partyasstaff get slice of the profit

- ANDREA LAMBROU

Staff at an East Kilbride venue are celebrating after getting a slice of a £250k profit share boost from their bosses.

The Torrance is part of the independent Manorview hospitality group, which has five venues in Lanarkshire.

And the profit share was announced last Thursday night, during an allexpenses-paid party for the whole team, held at Glasgow venue, The Arches.

The other local venues are Bothwell Bridge (Bothwell), Commercial Hotel (Wishaw), Cornhill Castle (Biggar) and Innishmohr (Coatbridge) –

The group’s Heartcount profit share scheme sees everyone in the business who has more than 12 months’ service qualify for a share of 10 per cent of Manorview’s net profits. The total amount being shared this year is £273,560 – and 471 team members have qualified.

This was a very intentional decision made by the Manorview team says managing director David Tracey.

He said: “Fairness is at the heart of our decisions.

“Every person in every role across our business impacts our success, so it’s right that profit is shared in a fair way.

“The calculation process ultimately means that it doesn’t matter whether someone is a kitchen porter, bar team, wedding sales manager, general manager, housekeeper or director – if they’ve worked the same hours, they get the same profit share.”

The profit share is just one of many things Manorview are doing as part of their mission to make life better through hospitality. All team members at the group are paid the real living wage at a minimum, and the business also recently set up a registered charity, the Manorview Foundation, to support those experiencing poverty and hardship.

Last week the team were treated to an all-expensespaid party at The Arches in Glasgow and the ‘Wild West’ themed party was full of surprises for the team.

Manorview chairman Steve Graham explained: “We close all our venues so that every team member can attend. It’s fantastic to get everyone together to show our thanks and appreciation, and celebrate what can be achieved as a team. I’m delighted that we can once again share profits with our team members. They do so much for our guests and our communities, and thoroughly deserve it.”
