Support the Name a Puppy fundraising challenge

- NIKI TENNANT

Guide dog Ranger was named through the‘Name a Puppy’scheme at the Guide Dogs charity.

Every puppy named through this unique service helps Guide Dogs reach more people living with sight loss, while providing supporters with the wonderful opportunity to be at the heart of a guide dog puppy’s story.

As well as providing a puppy with a special gift of a name, you can follow their journey as they aspire to become a future life-changer.

Guide Dogs have four different naming levels from which to choose: Name; Raise; Train; and Transform.

Each one follows the puppy you have named on their unique journey, gaining insights into the world of guide dogs through regular‘pupdates.’

Some of the naming levels even offer the opportunity to meet the puppy you’ve named in person.

The charity says a pup’s name not only gives them an identity, it will be the single most important word that they’ll learn, as it’s a signal to them that says:“The next message is for you.”

Supporters eagerly anticipate the news of the puppy they’ve named, and can enjoy following their progress.

You can name a puppy by yourself, with a group of friends, as a celebration, or in memory of a loved one. Some colleagues decide to name a puppy as part of a workplace challenge, or are inspired to choose Guide Dogs as their Charity of the Year.

Sporting and social groups are all welcome, as are schools and youth groups.

If you want to know more, or are ready to fundraise or donate, Guide Dogs would love to hear from you.

Get in touch by filling in a short, online registration form. The charity will then explain the different naming levels – for donations of between £2500 to £50,000 – and find the one that’s most suitable for you.

They will ensure you have all the fundraising information and tips you need, including how to pay in the money that you raise.

After having fun with your friends, family or colleagues by fundraising your way to achieve your target, you’ll be asked to complete a puppy naming form.

Then, await the exciting news that the pup you’ve named is here and ready to start its guide dog journey.

‘Name a Puppy’follows a real-life pup, in real time, so waiting times may vary. Find out more by visiting www. guidedogs.org.uk/nameapuppy.”
