Here’s your share of new house cash

- ROBERT MITCHELL

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland have given a boost to Share Alike in East Kilbride.

At the launch of its new development for sale at Jacktonhall, the homebuilder teamed up with the community group to donate £25 for each new home sold and legally completed within the first phase of new homes at its Amble Court development.

The first tranche of £675 was donated by Taylor Wimpey West Scotland last month, and in total a grand sum of £5625 will be paid to Share Alike as work at the development progresses, signalling a longterm relationship between this important local community charity and Taylor Wimpey West Scotland.

Share Alike is a small community organisation run entirely by volunteers, which aims to encourage sharing and care to help alleviate poverty, loneliness and waste.

It has partnerships with local stores to collect surplus food and it also accepts donations of food, clothing, and small household items which they distribute to those in need.

The money will go directly to supporting the work and services that Share Alike provides locally in East Kilbride including its crisis food service; community larder, fridge, and wardrobe; community wellbeing cafe with workshops, activities, and general support ; as well as its baby bank and participation in the annual EK Christmas Kindness campaign.

Commenting on the support that it has received from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, Annmarie Campbell, founder of Share Alike, said: “We are extremely grateful for the support that we will receive from Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, and we can’t thank them enough for this first donation.

“The money will be put to work locally to help us deliver our range of projects to the local community in East Kilbride. On behalf of everyone who uses our services, I would like to say a huge thank you.”

Audrey Ross, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Share Alike in this way, and we are pleased that we have made our first donation of £675 towards our total of £5625.

“This cements our relationship with a very worthy local charity that provides a link between the new community emerging at our Amble Court development at Jacktonhall, and the existing community of East Kilbride. Working with Share Alike is a real honour and we are extremely proud to be showing our support in this way.

“Being able to work with local charities and organisations that surround our developments means a great deal to us, and it’s always lovely to know that we are helping to make a difference to the lives of people in our local communities.”

Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s donation to Share Alike is one of the many contributions being made by the housebuilder towards community facilities and infrastructure.
