Eaglesham Beer Festival

Cheers to a good day!

- ANDREA LAMBROU

Tickets for this year’s Eaglesham Beer Festival have sold out – just hours after going on sale.

And festival organisers say they have been left “flabbergasted” by the uptake.

Tickets for the event went on sale at 9am on Friday, February 23, following an in-person sales event for locals the previous week.

Uptake for that was so great that organiser Fraser Wilson, pictured right, was confident online tickets sales would “go well” in the first week – but he admits he was overwhelmed at just how quickly he was forced to close the ticket office.

He told the EK News: “I’m pretty speechless to be honest.

“I was still recovering from just how successful our local ticket sales event had been on February 15. We had 180 sales that night, amounting to over 1200 tickets sold.

“It was a great sight for me as organiser, because people were queued out of the local pub waiting to get their tickets – the first 45 minutes was just constant.

“So to follow that up by selling out just hours after putting the other half of tickets on sale last Friday, is almost unbelievable.

“Only problem now is, my phone won’t stop going with people asking for a favour!”

A staple in the local social calendar, the event is now a marquee date in the Scottish beer community calendar also, attracting people from near and far.

It has grown in popularity over the years, from a few hundred people in a muddy field in 2015, to one of Scotland’s most respected beer festivals, attracting people from across the country.

The team’s efforts saw it crowned ‘Best Food & Drink Festival’ at the 2019

SOLA awards.

Since returning from the Covid pandemic in 2021, Fraser says the blueprint has been “just right,” calling last year’s event the best so far.

He added: “Last year was our seventh event and it was probably our best yet.

“There was a great family and community feel, and there was a great mix of top quality brewers and street food vendors. Coupled with fantastic entertainment and good fortune with the weather, it was definitely a day that put a smile on faces throughout the village – and beyond.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for more of the same this year.”

Having gone toe-to-toe with TRNSMT the last two years, the popular event will again turn Scotland’s first conservation village into the must-see event of the summer in early July.

As well as an array of craft beers from some of Scotland’s best breweries, there will be gin, cocktails, wine and fantastic street food.

That will be backed up by fantastic live music and children’s entertainment.

The Saturday, July 6, event runs from 12pm-7pm, but Fraser says “no tickets will be sold on the day”.
