Seven of the best and the worst for Belters

-

IT WAS a case of two 7-2 scorelines for Tranent’s amateur sides over the weekend.

While the Saturday side lost 7-2 at Loganlea United, the Sunday side posted the reverse scoreline the following day at Corstorphine Timbers.

On Saturday, strikes from Gary Shearer and Liam Henderson proved not enough for Tranent in their Premier Division clash.

North Berwick also lost out as they were edged out in a nine-goal thriller at home to KSQ in the Championship.

Euan Corrie, Finlay Wilson, Shaun Morrison and Jack Fish were all on target for the county side, who went down 5-4.

There was better news for West Barns Star, who continued their fine form with a 4-0 win away to Armadale Athletic.

New signing Brandon Dean scored twice while Jay Boyd and Ryan Young were on target in the win, which lifts them off the bottom of the Championship table.

On Sunday, Tranent picked up an impressive win away to Corstorphine Timbers.

John Ferguson scored four while Anton Mckillop, Andy Watson and Adam Young also netted.

Elsewhere, there were also wins for Musselburgh United and Wallyford Bluebell.

Lennon Wallace scored a double while Liam Smith also found the net in a 3-0 win for Musselburgh United, while Wallyford Bluebell were toasting a high-scoring win over Salvesen.

A hat-trick from Jordon Burrows helped the county team on their way to a 6-3 win.

Michael Laing bagged a brace and Kieran Mullen was also on target.

On Saturday, Tranent and North Berwick are both in action.

In the top flight, Tranent welcome Ratho Athletic, while North Berwick host Armadale Athletic in the Championship.

On Sunday, Tranent host Broomhall in the Sunday Morning Premier Division.

Musselburgh United head to Salvesen in the Premier Division, while neither Wallyford Bluebell nor Riverside Vics are in action.
