ALL GO FOR GUJARATI HIP HOP

THERE is a lot to look forward to in 2021 and this will include a thriving Gujarati hip hop scene, which has been triggered in a big way by UK-based rapper RaOol (right). His recently released pathbreaking four-track EP Gujarat Stand Up looks like being a major game-changer and is inspiring other artists to follow in his footsteps. RaOol revealed to me that he was advised against exploring the genre by major record labels and this drove him towards drawing attention to his Gujarati heritage even more. The versatile artist hasn’t disconnected himself from other projects and will release his debut Hindi project, #Wolfpack Vol. 1 early next year.
