Nadine’s Barbican session

-

SINGER Nadine Shah has announced a oneoff live-streamed show in London, as part of the Live from the Barbican series.

Shah, 34, will perform her critically acclaimed album Kitchen Sink at the London-based venue on March 30. She said she was “delighted” to be part of the line-up, which will also include performances from musicians Jonny Greenwood and Anna Meredith.

In December, the British Pakistani star made the news when she admitted she had moved back in with her parents after struggling to pay rent. She added that the ongoing pandemic had left many artists without a stable income.

“As a cocky northern lass, I thought I’d be okay,” she told the Guardian. “(I thought) ‘C’mon Nadine, you’ll be all right, you’ve been nominated for a bloody Mercury prize, you’ve over 100,000 monthly Spotify listeners. You’ll make the rent’.”

She added: “I was foolish. The situation was such that I temporarily had to move back in with my parents over the summer. Like most of my musician friends who rely on gigs, I found myself in dire straits.”
