JIAH KHAN SERIES A MISSED CHANCE
THE three-part BBC documentary Death In Bollywood, which is still available on demand and dissects the apparent 2013 suicide of British actress Jiah Khan (above), provoked a lot of debate since it screened recently. It also shocked audiences and had chilling parallels with Sushant
Singh Rajput’s death in 2020. Although compelling, it was a missed opportunity to shed light on the problem of an unusually large number of deaths in Indian entertainment being written off as suicides. Looking at a larger pattern across many decades might have provided answers to this
terrible tragedy.
