Riz: Venom role unlikely

-

ACTOR Riz Ahmed (right) has revealed it is “unlikely” he will appear in the Venom

sequel, due for release in the summer.

Ahmed appeared in the original 2018 superhero film as Carlton Drake, an inventor who dies during a spaceship explosion. The film’s sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage

was delayed from an initial October 2020 date due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I’m done in Venom,” the 38-year-old said last week. “It’s pretty conclusive. Dude got blown up in a spaceship.”

He also denied any further work

on the

Wars film franchise, after his starring role as Bodhi Rook in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in 2016. “I just haven’t heard of that, to be honest,” Ahmed said.

Meanwhile, it was announced his company Left Handed Films has signed a first-look TV production deal with Amazon Studios. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said: “Riz is a tremendous talent and the vision to amplify stories from fresh and bold perspectives... aligns with ours

perfectly.”
