Syal set for Life in Stages

MEERA SYAL is set to be part of a new series by the National Theatre (NT), in which theatre stars will discuss their experiences on the stage.

Syal, who is best known for her comedy roles in Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars at No 42, will be in conversation with actor Adrian Lester in the Life in Stages online series.

The episode will air on May 6 on the NT’s YouTube channel.

Other participants in the series include Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman and costars of the NT’s critically acclaimed film Romeo and Juliet, Josh O’Connor and Jessie Buckley.

The National said each pre-recorded episode will see the artists “reflect on their theatre careers, and reveal the funny, personal and poignant stories behind everything from their earliest theatre memory to their biggest professional highs and lows”.

The NT director Rufus Norris said: “The interview series has been a fantastic way to take a moment and reflect; to explore the careers of some of the leading figures in our industry, and to consider how the world around us will shape the work we create as we move forwards.”
