Woman loses Prince Harry marriage legal bid

-

MARRYING someone like Prince Harry may be a dream for many young women, but when fraudsters on the internet con them into believing such a fantasy, the result of catfishing can be hilarious.

An Indian woman not only apparently thought Prince Harry promised to marry her, she even launched legal action demanding the arrest of the Duke of Sussex for “not keeping his words”.

Palwinder Kaur, an advocate herself, filed a petition in India’s Punjab and Haryana high court claiming that the royal contacted her on social media and promised to marry her.

Live Law, a legal news website, tweeted a copy of her petition which called for the Indian authorities to issue an international arrest warrant against him so he could be arrested and forced to keep his promise of marrying her.

The petition said, “Prayer is … to take legal action against Prince Harry Middleton [sic], son of Prince Charles Middleton, resident of the United Kingdom, and to direct the United Kingdom Police Cell to take action against him, as, despite a promise to marry the petitioner, the said promise has not been fulfilled.”

According to a UK media report, the woman admitted that she had never met him personally and they had been in contact with each other only on email and social media.

Judge justice Arvind Singh Sangwan dismissed her petition on the grounds that there was no evidence to show that conversations had actually taken place between her and Prince Harry.

The judge hinted that it could be a case of conning on the internet. He said fake profiles existed on social media which could not be relied on as proof that conversations with real people had taken place, according to the report.
