MAESTRO STRIKES THE WRONG NOTE
THE most baffling film decision of April is AR Rahman (below) releasing his debut home production 99 Songs in cinemas. India is experiencing the worst surge in Covid-19 cases, most cinemas are closed globally and the Indian Premier League is in full flow. It is no surprise the bad decision killed any prospect of the film being a success. The music maestro should have waited for cinemas to open or followed the lead of other producers by selling 99 Songs straight to a streaming site for an exclusive world premiere. The disastrous decision will likely result in huge financial losses.
