Bestway donates flour to charities giving away food

-

ONE of Britain’s leading wholesale companies, Bestway, has donated more than 80 tonnes of self-raising flour to The Felix Project this year.

The charity uses surplus food to help people in poverty and need, living in London, and the flour has been sent to hundreds of charities across the city.

Among the charities which received the flour were Freedom’s Ark, a community church in Tottenham; Newham Muslim Safety Forum, which works with mosques and local organisations to distribute food parcels free of charge and Hope for Humanity, a charity that runs a food bank service in London.

Managing director at Bestway Wholesale Dawood Pervez said, “We chose to donate the flour to this wonderful charity because as we know it will help many other charities across London right in the communities that Bestway serves. Frighteningly, 1.5 million adults and 400,000 go hungry and we need to do everything we can to help make this change.”

Richard Smith, supply manager at The Felix Project, said, “Bestway’s flour arrived during the height of lockdown and has been brilliant for the charities and communities we support. We encourage any organisation with surplus food to get in touch with The Felix Project and don’t let it go to waste.”

The Felix Project is based in London with a warehouse at Park Royal close to Bestway Wholesale’s head office. Woodland Group’s domestic fleet, Woodland Logistics, supported the donation by delivering the 80 tonnes of flour to London.
