The highs and lows of celebrity Cameos PERSONALISED VIDEOS FROM STARS HAVE VERY MIXED RESULTS

-

CAMEO is a website that enables people to get a personalised video message from a celebrity and the price range is dependent on how big the star is.

The thousands of known names offering a video message range from athletes, gamers and YouTubers to famous actors and musicians. Some big names offering video messages at higher prices include international stars like Ice Cube, Chaka Khan, Floyd Mayweather, Chris Tucker, Chris Noth and Richard Dreyfuss. While a few are doing it for charity, most are there to earn some extra cash and for some it is proving to be quite a lucrative side-line. Unfortunately, the handful of Bollywood stars trying their luck on the site to earn some extra money aren’t popular A-listers, but mostly not-so-popular celebrities, who are being hilariously ambitious with the asking price for a quick video. When you compare the money they are demanding next to international stars, it becomes embarrassing and a little cringe-worthy. In fact, if social media users in India found out they would likely get heavily trolled. Bollywood flop star Harshvardhan Kapoor, who has played the lead role in two huge cinematic disasters and seems to be having trouble getting any kind of substantial work is asking for £187.50 for a personalised video message. The other Bollywood flop stars on Cameo, who are also overcooking their asking price include Shamita Shetty (£262.50), Rimi Sen (£225) and Mugdha Godse (£337.50). To illustrate how overly ambitious they are, you can get messages from world-famous stars like Bo Derek (£150), Brett Hitman Hart (£112.50), Eric Roberts (£67.50), Jon Lovitz (£112.50), Danny Trejo (£93.75) and DL Hughly (£105) much cheaper than them. Not surprisingly, they don’t seem to have many takers.

Indian celebrities, who are being more realistic with how much they are asking for include TV stars Shakti Arora (£93.75) and Gia Manek (£52.50), but even they seem ambitious with their figures. Former Bollywood star Tanushree Dutta is also offering a video message at a relatively reasonable price of £52.50, but she hasn’t done a movie in a decade.

Other reasonably priced names offering personalised video messages, who are proving to be popular, are stars of surprise Netflix hit Indian Matchmaking. They include Ankita Bansal (£45), Nadia Jagessar (£37.50), Aparna Shewakramani (£41.26), Vinay Chadha (£12.75) and Jay Wadhwani (£33.75).

Meanwhile, British conjurer Magic Singh charges £75 and will offer a cool trick as part of the video message. Perhaps the best Cameo bargain is being offered by popular British stand-up comedian, TV personality and Man Like Mobeen star Tez Ilyas, who is only charging £13.50 for a personalised message.

But the pick of Indian origin celebrities on Cameo is actress Karen David, who has appeared in many high-profile projects, including Fear Of The Walking Dead and is doing personalised video messages at a cost of £75, with the proceeds going to the amazing charity A Cause For Entertainment.
