Unconvincing action film is a senseless and unwanted mess of a story

-

THE latest action entertainer from Salman Khan was billed as the big Eid Bollywood blockbuster for 2021, but the pandemic meant it got a limited release in cinemas and was made available as a pay per view offering online.

As cinemas begin to open, it will be slowly rolled out again, but is it worth seeing?

Salman plays a fearless police officer, who is a specialist in deadly encounters with villains and getting himself transferred for being a loose cannon.

Randeep Hooda portrays a dreaded don, who has an equally vicious approach and is determined to destroy a city with his drug dealing. It isn’t long before their paths cross and a bloody battle ensues.

Although this seems like an action movie pitting two stars against each other it fails miserably because the director seems more concerned in giving Salman an ego trip, ahead of telling an actual story that makes any sense. In between the action, dud director Prabhu Deva adds in pointless comical scenes, a glam doll Disha Patani who has little to do and poor songs that disrupt the action.

What remains is a hero in his fifties trying to recapture his youth by doing unconvincing superherolike action, romancing an inappropriately young leading lady, fighting and generally overacting.

The only real saving grace of the movie is some eyecatching stunts and talented actor Randeep, but he has little to work with in terms of material.

Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai is reportedly a remake of 2017 Korean hit The Outlaws, but there is little similarity between the two. Had they stuck closer to that source material, there was potential for a slick action entertainer. Die-hard fans of Salman may appreciate what is going on, but they will know deep down this film is part of a downward spiral for him.
