Hinduja: Make money and then plan to give it away

-

INDUSTRIALIST GP Hinduja (right) urged wealthy Asians to give money to good causes instead of keeping it in the bank.

Speaking at the Asian Business Awards last Friday (19), Gopichand Parmanand Hinduja, the co-chairman of the Hinduja Group, told guests how he made money to give most of it away.

Hinduja said: “This Asian Rich List, what you see here has no meaning for me, because I don’t believe that wealth is something which I ever counted. My late father always told me, ‘everything belongs to everyone, everything is to be given away.’ So, in our family, no one wants anything, it is made to give away to society.”

He urged everyone in the room to consider doing a good deed instead of worrying about wealth and success.

“Each one of you should take an oath today, that every day, you will do something good for somebody, whether it is your friend, neighbour, or member of the community. Those blessings are much bigger than the wealth of anyone,” he said.

Hinduja added: “People think making money is great. I agree, but after making money, it has to be given away. Don’t keep it in your pocket, my dear friends.”

The Hinduja family was ranked first in the Asian Rich List, which was launched during the event.
