Starring: Tom Felton, Mandip Gill, Beatriz Romilly and Sam Swainsbury Director: Matthew Dunster
THE award-winning supernatural thriller follows successful West End runs at the Noël Coward and Gielgud theatres with a new staging at the Criterion Theatre in central London.
A new cast step into a story about a housewife named Jenny, who is convinced that her house is haunted. Her know-it-all husband Sam is not so sure, and so a deeply seated belief clashes directly with scepticism. What follows is a night they will never forget.
What starts off as a dinner party play evolves into something more sinister in this gripping theatre story which, not surprisingly, is filled with twists and unexpected moments.
The beautifully staged production draws in audiences and has them hooked with a multi-layered drama that shines a spotlight on everything from a troubled marriage to a more sinister tension-filled element, which has some genuine scary moments.
At the heart of the action are standout performances from a talented cast, who draw out the maximum amount from the writing and add something extra with their own unique nuances.
While Tom Felton, Beatriz Romilly and Sam Swainsbury shine in their respective roles, Mandip Gill is brilliant in playing arguably the most challenging character of this production. She has great stage presence and does justice to a widely acclaimed role with arguably one of the finest performances in her career to date.
Although this will appeal to audiences who enjoy supernatural stories, there is plenty there for fans of family drama. To get the maximum enjoyment from this play, it is better to find out as little as possible about the story before watching. Just know that it is a great theatre experience, and you will become a big fan of Mandip Gill after watching it.
