Gadhia set to join Bank of England
BRITISH INDIAN peer and businessman Lord Jitesh Gadhia will likely join the Bank of England as a non-executive director, according to reports.
The chancellor, Nadhim Zahawi, is believed to have cleared the appointments of four new members to the board of directors of the central bank, the Times said.
Property investment company Segro’s chief finance officer and Next non-executive director Soumen Das is also on the list.
Two others joining the bank as non-executive directors are BT general counsel Sabine Chalmers and Diageo’s general counsel Tom Shropshire.
Sky News reported that an announcement is likely soon, but the Treasury has not commented on the matter.
Gadhia is an economist, having studied at the University of Cambridge and the London Business School.
Das, 45, has more than a decade of board-level experience with listed companies. He was managing director and chief financial officer of Capital & Counties Properties plc before joining Segro. Das was also an executive director of the Swiss investment banking firm UBS.
