BHASKER’S STAGE RETURN

A BIG highlight of new theatre play Silence is the brilliantly talented Bhasker Patel (above). Although most people know him for terrific turns in multiple film and TV shows, including his much-loved role in popular soap opera Emmerdale, he is perhaps at his best on stage and adds to his distinguished theatre work with this important production. An adaptation of acclaimed book Partition Voices: Untold British Stories, Silence features real stories and testimonies of people who lived through the brutal division of India. The acclaimed British actor told me: “Silence marks 75 years since the Partition of the subcontinent into India and Pakistan. It focuses on communal storytelling, presenting a shared history inspired by the remarkable personal testimonies of people who lived through the last days of the British Raj.” Silence is being staged at Donmar Warehouse (September 1- September17), and Tara Theatre (September 21– October 1) in London.
