EastEnders star dies

-

FORMER EastEnders actor Ashvin Luximon (above) died last month “due to an aneurysm”, his family have said.

The 38-year-old played Asif Malik, the school friend of Martin Fowler, in the BBC soap, appearing in 146 episodes between 1999-2003.

Luximon passed way on July 23 with his funeral taking place on August 11. People were urged to wear colour instead of black to celebrate his life at the funeral service.

His family are raising money for the NSPCC and suicide prevention charity Andy’s Man Club in his memory through a website. “Ash’s unexpected passing has hit us all hard, but we want to take the time to remember his larger than life spirit. He loved and was loved by so many,” a statement on the site said.

“He sang a mean karaoke tune and had a voice loud enough to hear from space! He brought laughter and the best cuddles.

“Please use this space to share thoughts, photos and memories. Please be respectful.

“As a family we would like to ask anyone who would have made a floral tribute to instead donate to our chosen charities, the NSPCC (Ash was the ultimate uncle) and Andy’s Man Club ( a charity aimed at helping men talk).

The actor’s brother Alvin paid tribute to Luximon on what would have been his 39th birthday on August 13, writing on social media: “Happy birthday, brother. I am sure you are having a lot of fun and making everyone laugh… have a great one, cheers. Miss you…”

Luximon grew up in Enfield, North London, before attending Bowden’s Theatre School. He attended Chase Community School, but left before taking his GCSEs to pursue an acting career.

Some of his other TV appearances included Grange Hill and Hope and Glory. He also appeared in promotional videos for bus safety and British Airways.
