‘An inquisitive monarch’

Imam Ibrahim Mogra: It’s the end of an era, seven decades of Her Majesty being on the throne. She made sure that she made time to visit both ethnic and religious communities, in the UK as well as abroad, also visiting places of worship of the various religions.

“I had the honour of meeting the Queen at Buckingham Palace,

and also at an event where I had the honour of reciting the Qu’ran accompanied with an English translation.

She was inquisitive. She asked me what I did. I said, ‘I’m an imam’. She could have just let it go, but she had a follow-up question. ‘What did an imam do?’ So I got to explain to her what an imam does.
