The much more deserving candidate was blockbuster hit RRR, which has swept across the globe like wildfire and generated the kind of interest with nonAsian media and audiences in a way no commercial Indian film has before. RRR had a real chance, but instead a pretentious, self-indulgent movie many haven’t even heard of will be representing India and likely be eliminated early.
