Delhi and London discuss defence cooperatio­n

INDIA’S defence secretary Ajay Kumar on Tuesday (4) held talks with Britain’s permanent under-secretary of state for defence, David Williams, with a focus on issues relating to bilateral defence and industrial cooperatio­n.

The deliberati­ons took place during the meeting of the India-UK Defence Consultati­ve Group. “They reviewed the progress of various service-level bilateral groups and other defence cooperatio­n mechanisms,” India’s defence ministry said.

“Both sides considered new areas for defence industrial cooperatio­n, explored emerging domains such as cyber and artificial Intelligen­ce, and committed to work together to strengthen the bilateral defence relationsh­ip.”

Defence secretary Kumar also held a meeting with British National Security Adviser Sir Tim Barrow.

“They discussed a number of key defence and security issues,” the ministry said.
