HIGHS AND LOWS OF A KING’S JESTER
COMEDIAN Hasan Minhaj (inset, right) made a return to Netflix with stand-up special The King’s Jester. The high-energy show covering parenthood, politics, dictators, religion, and his compulsion to be confrontational can best be described as inconsistent. On the downside, he plays on some tiresome cliché troupes about Asians, comes across as boastful, and delivers jokes that just don’t land. On the flipside, he gives a great dissection of his life, from finding comedy as a teenager to an incendiary career, struggles towards having a baby and learning
life lessons.
