AKHIL SAHNI IS ONE TO WATCH

AN IMPRESSIVE recent independent music release is Let Us Be Apart by Akhil Sahni (above). The singer, songwriter and musician based between London and New Delhi has delivered a soulful number filled with meaning.

The 19-year-old told me his song started off as a rough voice note and said: “The starting point was a plea to the world to keep the character in the song apart from someone and let them move on in life. I always get inspired by small and interesting concepts that are not written about so often and make them much larger than they might be. It’s my shortest single till now, but one that is full and satisfying in terms of the message it conveys.”

The young talent collaborated with session musicians and recorded in London, as well as India. This continues his interesting journey of trying new things musically and collaborating with diverse artists in different languages.

He said: “The past year has been incredible. Performing, collaborating, and immersing myself in so many different wings of the music world has made me grow and develop sides to my sound I never thought I’d get into.”

Akhil wants to continue evolving, by keeping his core storytelling and song writing process authentic and build on superb music releases, like his delightful debut single 1368. He is one to watch.
