DDLJ MUSICAL GETS A TEPID RESPONSE

THE stage version of iconic Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was hyped as a Broadway musical. The show received lukewarm reviews during its recent limited run in San Diego. It also hasn’t generated any kind of buzz across social media or the press since it premiered. This is an early indicator that the production titled Come Fall in Love – The DDLJ Musical will be a huge failure. It seems like the strategy of turning the main British protagonist originally played by Shah Rukh Khan into a white American guy to make it more universal seems to have backfired. One reviewer described it as underwhelming and another wrote aspects of it are aggravating. Instead of having a Bombay Dreams style run in London’s West End or New York’s Broadway, it will likely be cancelled or play at smaller theatres before fading away.
