‘We added some herb planters to the back of the bench – they’re made from pieces of guttering!’

-

1You will need a piece of black square-line guttering, stops for the ends and Gorilla Glue. cut the guttering into 30cm lengths using a small hacksaw, then drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage.

2 Before glueing the guttering to the back of the bench, ensure one of the surfaces is damp. Spread a thin layer of glue to the dry surface and press the two together, securing with a clamp or tape for one to two hours.

Once dry, remove the clamp or tape and glue the stops to each end of the gutter. Leave to set. Fill the gutter planters with compost and then plant your chosen herbs or salad leaves.
