Redcurrants and cosmos
A vintage, copper washtub has aged to a pleasing verdigris patina that complements most plants beautifully, especially trailing black peppermint. At its centre is a standard redcurrant Ribes rubrum ‘Jonkheer van Tets’ which, by late June, drips with fruit. It’s surrounded by Cosmos bipinnatus ‘Gazebo Mixed’ in hues of pink and white. To prolong flowering into autumn, nip off dead heads, taking care not to damage buds lower down the stems.
