Plant a rose in a pot

Whether it’s bought bare-root or as a containerised plant, this is the perfect time to get a potted rose established. Most roses are suitable, including shrub, climbers, patio and ground cover as long as the pot is at least 45cm in diameter. Use a John Innes No 3 compost and add 20% wellrotted manure or compost. Apply mycorrhizal fungi before planting to encourage root growth.
