Glorious cover
Clematis montana is in full bloom at this time of the year. Covered with pretty pink flowers, it’s great for early cover and growing over unsightly walls or fences. It’s incredibly fast growing, but also super-tough, so you can cut back extra growth whenever you get the urge. If you’re trying to keep it smaller in size, it’s possible to cut the whole plant back in September to around 30cm above the ground, and it will still come back as strong as ever the following spring.
