Easy seeds to sow now

-

Now’s the time to start sowing veg seeds straight into the ground. For best results, we suggest containers or raised beds containing a fine mix of compost and soil, but a well-dug bed works, too, if you have the space. Simply sow a new row/block of seeds every couple of weeks to stagger production and keep your supply of veg going for longer. There’s so much to choose from…

spring onions These take eight weeks from start to harvest. Allow 20cm between rows if sowing in the ground, or up to half this if sowing in blocks in a raised bed. When fully grown, simply pull from the ground as needed.

peas and mangetout These will need a frame or pea sticks to support growth, but they’re supereasy to grow. Just pop them in the soil, water and watch them go! Be sure to pick new pods to keep the plants flowering and producing more crops.
