Paint your deck!
Tired old decking can be given a new lease of life with a quick paint job. If decking is newly-laid it’s actually better to wait for six months or so for it to weather naturally, though. If it’s been oiled in the past, you might need to use a paint remover and gently sand the surface before painting to ensure it adheres well. See page 64 for more clever weekend paint job ideas.
