Perfect peonies

These beautiful, romantic blooms brighten up any garden, and make gorgeous cut flowers, too. Even better – they’re super-easy to grow

Super-sized romantic impact for your garden

With their voluptuous blooms, handsome foliage, fine fragrance and range of colours, peonies are real showstoppers, whether in the garden or indoors in vases.

Perfect for less-experienced gardeners, they’re hardy, don’t mind a bit of neglect and can last for years. You do need a bit of patience, as it can take up to three years to produce a really good show of flowers – but, once established, they’ll give long-lasting pleasure.

On the move

It’s often said that peonies can’t be moved, but this is a myth. As long as the roots are replanted at the correct depth, they should happily regrow. Autumn is the best time to do this. Take care, too, when mulching – don’t cover the crown of the plant, as this can lead to a peony ceasing to bloom.
