Recent research by the National Garden Scheme has shown that the beauty of nature plays a vital role in improving our wellbeing. Therapist Emily Hodge says, ‘Connecting with nature and other people, being mindful and learning about the space you’re in are ways to build resilience, recharge your batteries and feel happier.’ NHS England is working to bring social prescribing – including gardening – into mainstream health care provision. It says that 2.5 million people will benefit from social prescribing by 2024.
