Q Is there any veg I can raise in window boxes and the steps leading to my front door?
A Yes, as long as it’s a sunny position (southfacing or east-facing is ideal). For windowboxes, try herbs like parsley, basil and thyme, which pack a punch in cooking. lettuce and radishes should also do well. None of these need much space to grow and all are very productive. if your steps have railings, grow shorter pea varieties up them in containers.‘ hurst Greenshaft’ (75cm height) produces pretty edible flowers, too.
