Rhubarb

Cut stalks will keep for two weeks in the fridge, or you can freeze them. pick until the end of June, then leave plants to build up for next year. Potatoes

Harvest first earlies in June and second in July when the flowers have opened. Scrap some soil from the side to check tubers are large enough.

Cucumber

When 15-20cm (6-8in) long, pick in the morning using a sharp knife. leaving them any longer will hinder the formation for new ones. Cherries

peg netting over branches or cover with fleece to deter birds. Snip fruits when juicy and showing their full colour, using a knife or snips. Strawberries

Water regularly when the fruits start to swell, and keep them clean by mulching with straw. Harvest before the birds find them!
