‘Prince Charles’ AGM*

A pretty, easy-to-grow mildewresi­stant variety with 10cm flowers that open azure-blue with pink tints that fade as they mature. Height and spread: 2m

Clematis x durandii AGM

Likes partial shade. It flowers from June to September. Needs tying in to supports or training up an obelisk as it won’t cling. Height and spread: 2m

‘Huldine’ AGM

Masses of elegant, white flowers make this a great climber to pair with a bright flowering shrub or scramble over an archway. Height and spread: 3m

‘Madame Julia Correvon’

A distinctiv­e Viticella type with wine-red flowers, which bloom from June to September. Prune in late winter. Height and spread: 3.7m

‘Remembranc­e’ AGM

Its 12cm beautifull­y textured raspberry-red flowers, mature to a deep rose hue. This high impact clematis grows with vigour. Height and spread: 2.5m

‘Arabella’

Flowers from late spring to early autumn. A compact variety, it can be planted in a pot or can scramble up a shrub. Position in full sun and it will thrive. Height: 2m; spread: 1m

‘Polish Spirit’ AGM

Produces a prolific mass of large deep-purple 15cm flowers, with a slightly reddish stripe along the centre of each petal. Height and spread: 3m

‘Picardy’

Flowers from early summer to October. Once blooms are over, cut back to 15cm and it will reflower if kept well watered and fed. Height: 1.5m; spread: 1m

‘Blue Angel’ AGM

This clematis is covered in pale rosy-blue blooms from top to bottom, opening continuous­ly from June to September – or sometimes even later.
