It’s blueberry season!

Blueberries are delicious raw and cooked and have become deservedly popular in recent years. The fruits are packed with beneficial antioxidants and they have an intense flavour when picked ripe from the bush. Growing several varieties, such as ‘Duke’, ’Herbert’ and ‘Ozark Blue’ guarantees cropping for a much longer period, from July to September, and fruits freeze well. Acid soil is a necessity for blueberries, which also grow well in large pots of ericaceous compost. Cover fruits with fleece or netting, as birds love them!
