How to maintain
■ Direct sunlight will overheat your terrarium, so place it in a shady spot, within 1m of a north-facing window, 2-3m from an east- or west-facing window, and 5m from a southfacing window.
■ Fading leaves are a sign that the terrarium is not receiving sufficient light.
Condensation should cover
■ 10–30% of the jar, and excess water can be wiped off by opening the lid and drying inside with kitchen roll.
■ Trim back any leaves that hit the top or sides of the terrarium using scissors, and remove any dead or mouldy matter immediately.
■ Your terrarium should not need any extra water for several months, but if the plants look dry – especially the moss – sprinkle a teaspoon of water around or spray with a plant misting spray.
