Giving worn-out furniture a lick of paint is one of the easiest ways to give it a new lease of life. With upcycling, the items don’t have to be pristine. If it’s for inside the house you’re more likely to want it to be perfectly finished, but outside, where it will become weather-worn and be disguised with plants, we can be less picky. So next time you walk past some discarded shelves, ask yourself if they could be of some use.
