Easy Gardens

Small spots

-

Q I have access to a small shared garden, and I’d like to start growing some produce, but without using up too much space or annoying the neighbours. How do I get started?

A You’ll be surprised how much you can grow in small spaces. Try keeping your vegetables confined to a raised bed or two. These are great for boosting drainage and introducing a new soil type to a garden. Try untreated hardwood sleepers if it’s a longer-lasting project, and fill with topsoil enriched with organic matter. Think vertically: legumes over arches, baby vegetables, avoiding things that require more space and time to grow.
