Easy Gardens

Q My back garden has a small, paved area with high walls. How can I make it a more inviting space?

A One of my favourite ideas for smaller, walled gardens is the introduction of vertical garden planters. These are not only great for something like a herb garden, but also for compact succulents or even dwarf vegetables. It’s also fantastic for more Diy-oriented gardeners. For example, ladder planters are great for leaning up against your walls and creating an affordable yet stylish solution. Vertical gardening is also a great opportunity for upcycling projects too – with repurposed pallets, wine barrels, or even recycled bottles all useful. You can also add splashes of colour with pots on rugged shelving, supported by wrought iron brackets. Squeeze in a compact dining table in a corner and enjoy al fresco dining!
