Edinburgh named UK's worst commuter city
I'm from Edinburgh and used to love visiting. Not now. Starting at Chesser the traffic just halts. It takes ages to get anywhere. The centre of Edinburgh is a total joke! What is going on? It’s shameful.
Kelly Kay
I am fortunate to only have to commute twice a week, but I think that having to use the 400 bus makes it feel like at least twice that - usually late, takes forever, even without going anywhere near the centre of town!
Bruce Rennie
Transportation to work is awful, busan hour late, often not coming at all, me waiting in the station wondering if I can go home or not. Rineros Marin
Worst city to travel in by a mile. It can take 20 mins to crawl 50 yards of road and don’t get me started on four of the same bus number showing up at the same time, then none for an hour! Keith Spencer
Too many bus stops, too many traffic light junctions. Even in London you can travel a good distance through the city. It's stop and start, stop and start in Edinburgh. Jamie Heseltine
One big, never ending roadworks. Disgrace to call itself a city, let alone the capital.
Iain Caldwell
For once I totally agree with this headline. Fi Liddle
I remember when I was working in Portobello the bus took me one hour to get there. There’s a bus stop every 5 min, it is ridiculous. HG McLean
Who thought LEZ zones were a good idea? Reduce emissions, right? We will just take the longer way round to avoid charges, causing extra emissions and more congestion! Well done CEC! Thanks for listening to "the people."
Keely Harper
I challenge anybody who thinks Lothian Buses are a pleasant restful journey to take the 31 from Kilngate to Roseburn!
Ian McGill
It's going to get worse if they stop cars driving up the Bridges and Canongate. Linda Blackburn
What bus services? Try living in Ratho, Newbridge, Kirkliston, Dalmeny, Queensferry - all pay Edinburgh council tax under Edinburgh umbrella but actually get SFA from the council.
Graeme Archibald
It’s terrible for getting around . Five minute journeys take 50 mins. Shocking plan - whoever thought this up needs locked up.
Helen Phillips
Funny how everyone goes on about the council, but they go quiet when you ask them why Edinburgh for decades could never beat pedestrian shopping in Glasgow, which was number 2 in the UK's retail rankings, with London first and Manchester third. Edinburgh was 18th – Edinburgh’s downfall was that it’s main shopping street was on a busy road.
Scott Broon
No surprise really. It’s not a priority for the council. Roger Downing
And also the worst airport! Tom Connor
They need to cut the 55,000+ vehicles that enter the city each day, then go home and pay their council taxes to another council. Bring on congestion charges!
