Turning Point: The Bomb and the Cold War (Netflix, from March 12) The Cold War officially ended in 1991 but, as tension between the US and Russia continues to escalate, its repercussions can still be felt. This compelling new nine-part series examines the conflict, a battle for ideological dominance that lasted for a decade and brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. “Lessons that we thought were learned were not learned,” says writer and historian Lesley Blume during the programme. Director Brian Knappenberger includes interviews with various figures, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as ordinary people who found themselves caught up in real-life drama, terrifying events that continue to reverberate throughout the world today.

The Dry (ITVX, from March 14)

Nancy Harris’s superb comedydrama focusing on the life of recovering alcoholic Shiv Sheridan (Roisin Gallagher) is back for its eagerly awaited second series. It picks up seven months after the events of the first, with the family seemingly behaving rationally and normally, for once – Shiv is sober, celibate and solvent, Ant is still an estate agent in a relationship with hunky Max, and Caroline is making up for lost time in the romance department. However, appearances can be deceptive. For a start, is it healthy for all three adult children to still be living at home, and what does the future hold for mum Bernie and dad Tom? Hopefully all will be revealed… Siobhan Cullen, Pom Boyd, Ciaran Hinds and Adam John Richardson co-star.

Taylor Swift – The Eras Tour (Disney+, from March 16) The singer-songwriter is barely out of the news these days, particularly when it comes to her love life. However, Swift herself will no doubt be thrilled that it’s her work taking centre stage when Disney streams a concert from her current tour, which began in March last year and continues until December. Even those who’ve been lucky enough to see her in action will be keen to catch this version because it features the song Cardigan, as well as four additional acoustic tunes. “The Eras Tour has been a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world,” says Disney CEO Bob Iger. “We are very excited to bring this electrifying concert to audiences wherever they are.”
